My stay in Switzerland was a great experience. I had the opportunity to visit the Ecolé Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) as one of the two universities in Lausanne and learned a lot about constructing volcano plots for homogeneous catalysis in the Laboratory of Computational Molecular Design (LCMD) as a new aspect of my Ph.D. research. Both inside and outside academic life, Lausanne is a very international city, and it was amazing to be part of such a diverse community. The proximity to Lake Geneva and the Swiss and French alps make the area outstandingly beautiful and invite for outdoor activities such as swimming, scuba diving, and hiking.
I gained a lot from my time in Lausanne, both regarding scientific work and settling in a new research and living environment. I am very thankful for this chance to continue my Ph.D. project in a new and exciting direction and to work with all the bright and amiable people at the LCMD. I strongly encourage this kind of research collaboration because I found it an invaluable experience.
